Level-crossings may have the following in addition to traffic signs:

Barrier of Half-Length Barrier

• Barriers come down when traisn approach.

• Crossing a level-crossing before the barrier is all the way up is not allowed.

• It is not allowed to cross, pass underneath, or go around a lowered barrier or a barrier going up/down.

Warning bell

• Warns with a sound about a train on level-crossing or approaching it.

Warning lights

• When a level-crossing is clear, a white light flashes.

• When crossing is forbidden, a red light is lit or flashing.

Before level-crossing

• Reduce the speed well before the crossing and stop to verify the safety of the crossing.

• Safety can be verified by looking in both directions (the train may come from either direction) and by listening carefully.

• Cross promptly.
