Where are you going?
We get a driving licence because it gives us the freedom of movement. Freedom of movement is usually just one of the motives.
Other motives may include:
Gaining respect
Being together (cruising)
Gaining acceptance
Goal and motive affect to the driving performance. If the goal is just to move from point A to point B, the ground for driving safely is usually good. According to studies driving is the most dangerous when showing off is one of the motives for driving.
After the driving test you get to practice independently. By going through the hazardous situations in your mind, you can learn a lot about yourself and your operating models. Think, how could you have noticed the danger and how would you have been able to reduce the risk. Retrieve into your mind the things that your teacher and driving test supervisor told you have to improve in.

Besides experience also the motives for driving affect to the collision risk. A person that has just obtained a driving license the need to move is usually mostly cruising around in free-time. In their middle-age people are usually still healthy and when their children move out from the home it gives more free-time. In this age the collision risk is the lowest.
In retirement age a car is needed for shopping trips, visiting the children and maybe visiting a summer house. Things related to health increase the collision risk when people get older.
