11.3 Using a navigator
It is prohibited by law to use a navigator while driving if it disturbs the use of car controls or otherwise disturbs the driver's concentration on traffic.
The driver should familiarize him or herself with the navigator user guide and practice before starting to use it in traffic. Practicing should be done in familiar surroundings and at such a time that there is not much traffic.
The driver can choose if he or she wants to use the shortest or fastest route. The shortest route usually goes through roads less travelled and the fastest route primarily uses the main roads. Navigator programming has to be done before starting the trip. If there is a need to re-program the navigator during the drive, it is advisable to stop the car in a safe place. Traditional roadmaps still offer adequate help for navigation.
The driver is responsible for driving and navigating and should not blindly obey the instructions given by a navigator.
If you miss a turn, act calmly and find next suitable place for turning back. In a city you might have to drive around a block to get back on your route.
